NiTi Perio Saw®: a micro-serrated ligament saw for clear, tissue-preserving extraction
NiTi Perio Saw® is a micro-serrated nickel-titanium ligament saw for clear, tissue-preserving tooth extraction. It can also be used in veterinary dentistry, on dogs and cats; the product on this page is the veterinary edition, for veterinarians and veterinary clinics.
Cut the periodontal ligament instead of tearing it. The super-elastic NiTi tip bends up to 180° and springs back straight, so it follows the curvature of the root along the socket.
Micro serration cuts the PDL smoothly
Cutting the periodontal ligament (PDL) for a smooth extraction that saves the surrounding bone.

- Materials: tip in nickel-titanium shape-memory alloy (ASTM F2063), handle in stainless steel SUS304 (ASTM A276).
- Handle 100 mm; working tip 36 mm (Straight, Curved) or 42 mm (Angled, Flat angled); tip width 2 mm.
- Reusable, supplied non-sterile. Autoclave wrapped at 134 °C for 15 minutes, dry 20 minutes.

- Curved: canine or premolar
- Angled: mesial and distal
- Flat angled: interproximal
How to use: inspect the instrument, pack it in a sterilisation pouch and autoclave it, position the tip at the tooth, then push and draw back gently to cut the periodontal ligament around the root. Do not twist the instrument, do not use it on an ankylosed tooth, and do not use it to elevate the root. Read the instructions for use (PDF) supplied with the product.
